Meet Our Attorneys

Brooke N. Cox

Owner/Attorney

Brooke was raised in Campbellsville, Kentucky and is a 2006 honors graduate of Campbellsville High School. She attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. In 2013, she graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law with her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in October of that year.

 

Brooke takes pride in providing excellent and compassionate service to her clients in all areas of the law. Before beginning her own practice, she was a partner in H & C Law Group, PLLC with William M. (Mike) Hall, Jr. Prior to that, she worked as a legal secretary for Mike Hall, Jr. and Rodger Cox for nearly a decade while pursuing her undergraduate and law degrees.

 

Brooke lives in Campbellsville with her daughter, Vivian. She enjoys all types of music and is a pianist at Southside Christian Church, where she also serves as a Sunday School teacher for the middle school group and as Treasurer.

Mackenzie L. DeSpain Smith

Attorney

Mackenzie was raised in Campbellsville, Kentucky and graduated at the top of her class at Taylor County High School in 2013. After graduation, she moved to Richmond, Kentucky where she attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated summa cum laude in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Homeland Security and a minor in History. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in May of 2019 and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar on September 30th, 2019.

 

Mackenzie has a client-centered practice and she enjoys listening to her clients and tailoring a solution designed specifically for their legal needs. Before joining Brooke N. Cox, PSC as an Associate, Mackenzie began her legal career working as an intern for Brooke and former partner, William M. Hall, Jr. During law school she worked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Fayette County Circuit Judge Ernesto Scorsone, and boutique litigation firm Kerrick Bachert, PLLC. Mackenzie began working with Brooke again in December 2018 and helped establish Brooke N. Cox, PSC in 2019.

 

Mackenzie lives in Danville with her husband Kirk and their three cats, Rachel, Gomez and Liza. She enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, and going to live shows and concerts.

Meet Our Staff

Megan McKinney

Head Legal Secretary

Megan joined our office after working with Brooke during her time at H&C Law Group, PLLC. No matter the case, Megan will be instrumental behind the scenes as she works closely with Brooke to get you the best result. In 2010, Megan graduated from Lindsey Wilson College with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and Counseling. She has worked for various attorneys in Taylor and Green counties and is well-versed in assisting with many areas of the law. Megan lives in Greensburg with her husband, Dustin and their three children, Allie, Madi and Easton. She is active in her church and enjoys kayaking and spending time outdoors with her family.

Kenzi Forbis

Intern

Kenzi grew up in

Campbellsville and graduated from Campbellsville High School where she was active in Beta Club and Pep Club and played softball. She is currently a junior at Campbellsville University where she is pursuing two Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice Administration.

 

When she is not studying or working in the office, Kenzi enjoys working out, spending time with her friends and snuggling with her puppy, Cairo.

Office Mascot

Our office mascot enjoys meeting new clients, both young and old, and can usually be found sleeping in one of his many favorite spots throughout the office. Atticus is a gentle giant who finds his happiness by making other people smile.
